OMD 31 Day Challenge - Day 7 - Holo

Hey everyone!! I'm cutting it pretty close again...I should have a bit more free time next week so hopefully I'll have more time for nails and not be posting challenge manis all last minute.

Today is holo day in the 31 Day Challenge. I have a stamping manicure for you, I've read numerous times how well the Color Club Halo Hues work for stamping, and they didn't disappoint! I started with two coats of Pure Ice Bikini. Bikini is fast becoming my favorite light blue, I've already used it twice this week! That's like some sort of record or something, lol. Once that was dry I used Color Club Over the Moon and stamped with plate 214 from Bundle Monster. My ring finger is two coats of Over the Moon on its own.

And since I've been running so late I ran out of sunlight before I was done this mani tonight. So the next two pictures are under my daylight lamp to show the holo goodness of Over the Moon.

Yummy! Holo goodness! Thanks for reading :)

OMD 31 Day Challenge - Day 6 - Neon

Today is day 6 of the OMD 31 Day Challenge, and it's neons!! I've chosen to do a simple neon and nude mani.

I started with three coats on my thumb and pinky of China Glaze Flying Dragon, a beautiful fuschia neon with blue shimmer. On my pointer, middle and ring fingers I used two coats of an unnamed Color Club nude. All the Color Clubs that I have which came in a 7 piece pack are nameless. If anyone knows the name let me know and I'll update the post! On the nude fingers I freehanded a ribbon-esque design with Flying Dragon. I had to go over it twice to get the appropriate opacity. I tried to get it to look like the neon ribbon continues through the fingers and I think it does!

OMD 31 Day Challenge - Day 5 - Skittles

Happy Friday everyone! I hope your Friday was great and you're looking forward to your weekend!! I'm going to be doing my best to keep up with the challenge so fingers crossed that there will be two manis from me this weekend.

Today is Skittles day in the 31 Day Challenge. I have a pastel polka dot skittle mani for you! Here's what I used:

  • Thumb: two coats of China Glaze Something Sweet
  • Pointer: two coats of Julep Renee
  • Middle: two coats of Julep Shenae, it has a slight shimmer
  • Ring: two coats of Pure Ice Bikini. I LOVE this blue, it was so smooth and the perfect dusty pastel blue.
  • Pinky: three coats of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls
My thumb, pointer, middle and ring finger are all dotted using OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls. The dots on my pinky are done using the base colors on the other finger.

I really liked this mani, it was delicate and fun at the same time. Not really season appropriate, it was more springy, but that's ok I still loved it!

OMD 31 Day Challenge - Day 4 - Black and White

Today is black and white! I love black and white mani's, they're so sharp and eye-catching.

Unfortunately my mani today is neither sharp nor eye-catching. I attempted to do an ombre saran wrap look, but I think my color choices could use a bit of work.

All fingers started with three coats of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls. Here's what I used on each of my fingers for the saran wrap effect:

  • Thumb: Sinful Colors Tantalize
  • Pointer: NYC Sidewalkers
  • Middle: Maybelline Express Finish Cool Couture
  • Ring: China Glaze Concrete Catwalk
  • Pinky: Wet N Wild Black Creme
I'm kind of meh about this whole manicure. I feel like there's not enough difference between the shades when I used the saran wrap. I think this would be a neat look but needs better color choices than the ones I made. Maybe I'll try it again sometime with different polishes. Lots of potential, bad execution. Oh well, part of blogging is about sharing the good with the not so good right?!

OMD 31 Day Challenge - Day 3 - Purple

Oh my! I'm super late today, barely squeaking the challenge in!! Today is day three of the challenge and the prompt says today is purple!

I have a geometric skittle manicure in purple for today. It's a lot of information so I'm going to break it down finger by finger:

  • Pointer: two coats of Pure Ice New Lilac, stamped with Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Co-Bolt Blue and  a Fauxnad plate of m65
  • Middle: two coats of Pure Ice New Lilac, stamped with Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Co-Bolt Blue and Gals Plate 35
  • Ring: two coats of Pure Ice New Lilac, three royal blue square rhinestones
  • Pinky: one coat of Pure Ice New Lilac as undies, then four thick coats of Pure Ice Cheatin
Wow, that was a lot of writing about what's going on in this mani! I bought Pure Ice New Lilac as a potential stamping polish, I'm not sure how well it's going to work. I'll have to give it a try in the nearish future!

OMD 31 Day Challenge - Day 2 - Blue

Hi everyone! I hope all you fellow Canadians out there had a good Canada Day yesterday and had a decent psuedo-Monday. I love short weeks!

Today I have day two of the OMD 31 day challenge which is blue! I have a simple manicure today which actually turned out the way I envisioned. That rarely happens!

I started with two coats of Julep Ally. Ally is a beautiful bright blue with a dark, evil side. The dark side is the formula, it was incredibly thick and goopy. And it smelt funny, sort of skunky. But the color is lovely. After Ally had finally dried (it took forever, even with Seche Vite) I lightly brushed Joe Fresh Twilight at the base of my nails. I used a second coat of top coat my right hand and Ally made weird wrinkles all over my nail with the second coat of Seche, so I skipped the second coat of top coat on my left hand. I really love the color of Ally, but the formula is terrible and definitely not what I've come to expect from Julep polishes.

The goldie-yellowie color above is what Twilight looks like most of the time, but when the light hits it just right it makes a lovely green which you can see on my pinky nail below. I love the greeny color with the blue.

Here's a direct sunlight photo, isn't the bright blue color lovely? Too bad about the formula :(

OMD 31 Day Challenge - Day 1 - Pink

Happy Monday everyone!

For the month of July I've decided to participate in a 31 day challenge. It seems to be a blogger right of passage, I'm very excited to participate! I was lacking in inspiration and the prompts really seem to have gotten my creative juices flowing!! The challenge is called Oh Mon Dieu! It's The Rather Awesome 31 Day Challenge and is being hosted by Brijit's DigitsEeeek! Nail Polish!, and Craftynail. There's also some awesome prizes they're giving away as part of the challenge. I'm most excited about the challenge itself, I'm so pumped to participate! If you'd like to learn more about the challenge and the giveaway click on over to one of the lovely hosting blogs...you should just click on over there always because their blogs are awesome and you should check them out!

For Day 1 the theme is pink so I have a pink manicure with some glitter (of course!) for you. I figured I should definitely start the challenge off with glitter since glitter is so awesome, lol. I used two coats of China Glaze Something Sweet on all fingers but my ring finger. My ring finger is three coats of Butter London Rosie Lee. On my pointer finger I taped off the V section and filled it in with Rosie Lee. I love Rosie Lee, I've always admired it on blogs and now I'm soooo happy that I have it and have finally used it. It may have just become my favorite glitter! I know, high praise! :o

And a blurry picture to show the glittery, sparkly awesomeness that is Rosie Lee.
